Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if my pet is undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy?
A: We recommend temporarily discontinuing use of ProtectaCell 24 hours before, during, and 24 hours after chemotherapy or radiation therapy. However, research on multiple dietary antioxidants suggests that for optimum benefit, a minimum total usage time of 1-2 days is needed prior to therapy (i.e. prior to temporary discontinuation of supplement).

Q: If using ProtectaCell as a dietary supplement in my healthy pet, can the recommended usage be lowered?
A: Yes, the usage can be reduced to half for healthy animals.

Q: What if my pet has side effects?
A: If diarrhea or vomiting occurs concurrently with starting ProtectaCell administration, it is recommended that the usage is reduced to half for about a week before returning to the full amount. Mixing supplements with food has also been helpful in some cases. Diarrhea and vomiting may also be side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

ProtectaCell is available in a 30-count or 90-count bottle of flavored chewable tablets for Cats and Dogs.

PROTECTACELL®

Does your pet have cancer or heart disease?
Nourish the cells to protect the body with ProtectaCell.

You probably know that many breeds are predisposed to certain diseases, such as arthritis in German Shepherds, skin disease in Laboradors, cancer in Golden Retrievers or heart disease in Boxers. Studies suggest that key supplemental nutrients may support the body's ability to maintain good health. ProtectaCell combines a high level of omega-3 fatty acids with antioxidants and amino acids for nutritional support in pets predisposed to, diagnosed with, or recovering from cancer or heart disease.

When the body experiences stress from physical injury, chemical toxicity, infection, or simply aging, oxidative damage often results. The consequences of oxidative damage include inflammation and damage to cell membranes, which can suppress immune function. If oxidative damage is not controlled, a cell's DNA can eventually be altered and lead to disease, such as cancer. Micronutrients found in ProtectaCell have been shown to reduce inflammation and oxidative damage, and are intended to preserve the genetic integrity of cells, provide nourishment, and improve immune response to conventional therapies.

When a pet undergoes drug treatment for a disease, other organs or body systems may be negatively impacted as a side effect of the drug's activity. ProtectaCell is designed with nutrients that also provide support to the heart, as it is commonly affected by conventional cancer therapies. Coenzyme Q10, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants have also been used as nutritional support in dogs and cats with heart disease and/or congestive heart failure. Therefore, in addition to supporting the heart after exposure to certain treatments, ProtectaCell may also be beneficial for pets with heart disease unrelated to cancer.

Illness-induced loss of appetite is common in pets. Decreased food intake contributes to impaired immune response, so nutritional therapy is important. Because cancer changes the way the body utilizes food, even if a pet is eating normally, they can still lose weight and muscle mass. Animal studies suggest that omega-3 fatty acids may prevent or reduce cancer-related weight loss, appetite loss, and muscle wasting, collectively known as cachexia. Talk to your veterinarian about how you might improve your pet's appetite without causing them additional stress.

Studies in humans and animals suggest a relationship between aging and cancer. If you feel that your older pet may be at risk of developing cancer or heart disease, ProtectaCell can be used as a daily supplement in healthy older pets. While there is no guarantee of prevention, the increased concentrations of fatty acids, amino acids and antioxidants and potential strengthening of the immune defenses may provide a less favorable environment for cancer cells to thrive.

ProtectaCell is a combination of the following compounds. Research suggests that the simultaneous activities of such compounds are more beneficial than that of each on its own.
