What Doctors & Customers say...

July 25, 2006 - Gail Miller is a veterinary technician who reported 100% improvement in her dog's skin after 30 days on Proanthozone. The 40-lb. dog had been constantly itching and biting his skin. He had recurring hot spots and was greasy and smelly within a few days after every bath. Gail was desperate when she decided to try Proanthozone, and she says "it's like a miracle". She hasn't had to bathe her dog in 4 weeks and is now going to treat him to a professional grooming.

"We began using Proanthozone for our miniature dachshund several years ago when she suddenly became very reluctant to move. Our vet prescribed a short course of drug therapy and ongoing Proanthozone. Munchkin has rarely had a bad episode since then. She will be 10-years old in November and is still running like a puppy! Our mixed breed dog was placed on Proanthozone as well. Now, at 14 years old, Puffin rarely has any movement problems at all. We are very glad our vet recommended this product."

"Sheeba, my 10-year old Great Dane, was diagnosed with diabetes a year ago and is now blind. Arthritis in her hips prevented her from playing and walking. She needed assistance rising from the floor and struggled when she tried to lie down. My sister-in-law recommended Proanthozone for months before I asked my veterinarian to research it. Within a few weeks of using Proanthozone, Sheeba's overall health and mobility improved dramatically. Over about 4-6 weeks, her insulin requirements gradually went from 100 units/day to only 70 units/day. Sheeba no longer required assistance in getting up, she began to play with the other dogs again, and now enjoys going for a short walk every day. She is able to "hop" up and down the 8-inch step at our door and sometimes has to be restrained from running in the house before she crashes! I was unable to continue her daily dosage for about 2 weeks and she began to have difficulties walking, rising and lying down. Her water consumption and insulin requirements were increasing. By the time I put her back on Proanthozone, she was up to 90 units/day. Now, back on the Proanthozone, we again have to remind her that she's just not a puppy anymore. She wholeheartedly disagrees!"

  • Liver flavored sprinkle capsules in 10mg, 20mg and 50mg sizes

Indications: For the nutritional management of conditions linked to oxidative stress, such as liver/kidney disease, skin disease, pancreatic and G.I. disorders, cardiovascular disorders and degenerative joint disease (DJD). Also useful as a nutritional support for compromised immune function.

Main ingredients: Bioflavanol, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Manganese, Zinc, Selenium, N-acetyl-Cysteine, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Glutathione

Veterinarians can use Proanthozone® as nutritional support for animals with:

  • Cataracts
  • Skin problems - Anti-histamine effect
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Surgical incisions or wounds
  • Immune-mediated disease
  • Diabetes/Diabetic retinopathy
  • Kidney disease
  • Pancreatitis
  • Liver disease
  • Dental disease
  • Cancer
  • Vascular problems

There are many disorders that can benefit from antioxidants. Studies have shown that oxidative damage to nerves can result in mental deterioration, oxidative damage to joint tissue can result in gait disturbances, and oxidative damage to cardiac tissues can result in cardiac arrhythmia or heart attack. Research has also shown that renal, hepatic, pulmonary, cardiovascular, neurological and ocular diseases can be slowed or prevented with adequate antioxidant therapy. For example, in rabbits, isolated heart muscle has been protected from ischemia/reperfusion injury in the presence of the potent antioxidant bioflavanol, which is the main component in Proanthozone.

Research has shown that bioflavanol from grape seed extract inhibits elastase and collagenase enzymes that continually work to break down connective tissue throughout an animal's body. At the same time, it helps repair broken collagen fibers by reconnecting them. In aging animals, the cumulative effect of these enzymes begins to manifest itself in capillary breakdown in kidney and eye tissue and in increased permeability of lung and gut tissue. Proanthozone may help an animal's body to repair or slow these developments of aging.

Antioxidants are best used, however, as a nutritional support for optimal health throughout a pet's life. Proanthozone maintains cellular antioxidant enzymes and provides direct free radical scavengers that help preserve the genetic integrity of original and new cells.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What initial response time can I expect from Proanthozone?
A: We recommend that you allow at least 30 days of use to achieve the desired result.

Q: What organ is the primary source of elimination for Proanthozone?
A: If it is not totally absorbed by the body, it would be eliminated by the kidneys, but only in trace amounts.

Q: How is the bioflavanol in Proanthozone metabolized?
A: It appears to be rapidly absorbed through the digestive tract and is distributed to all bodily tissues. In experimental rats, mice and guinea pigs, it has a half-life of approximately 18-24 hours.

Q: Why would a dog have diarrhea for the first few days after beginning Proanthozone?
A: It is a rare occurrence, but should diarrhea be detected, it may be caused by a toxic cleansing initiated by the high nutrient value of Proanthozone. Once the cleansing is completed, the diarrhea should cease. In the few animals that have shown this response, the attending veterinarian has reduced the dosage and then successfully built it back up.

Q: Can Proanthozone be given during pregnancy?
A: There is nothing in the product which would compromise the mother or embryo. To the contrary, Proanthozone may enhance the overall health of the mother, contributing to a normal pregnancy.
